Anti-gun senators introduce bill to hold online gun markets responsible for illegal firearms sales
- Senators Dianne Feinstein (Calif.), Richard Blumethal (Conn.) and Sheldon Whitehouse (R.I.) have announced legislation to keep online gun marketplaces responsible for illegal gun sales that happen on their platforms
- This measure is called “The Accountability for Inline Firearms Marketplaces ACT
- It will ensure that websites like “Armslist” will no longer have immunity under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act

- On August 20, 21-year old Armond Rodriguez had his four felony gun charges dropped by prosecutors in Avondale “restorative justice court
- Less than 48 hours after his gun charges were dropped, police allegedly found the man drunk and parked at a North Side gas station with a gun in his lap
Retail survey estimates 3 million first-time gun buyers in the first half of 2021
- According to a survey conducted by the National Shooting Sports Foundation; they estimate over 3.2 million people have bought a firearm for the first time in the first 6 months of 2021
- From data collected by respondents in the survey, they indicated that 33.2% of customers were first-time buyers based on the 9.8 million background checks totaled in June
